About Us

Our mission is to help Hebrew students at every age learn Hebrew through news, current events, Israeli stories and topics that apply to our readers both on their Hebrew and intellectual levels. Our goal is to write interesting articles at a beginner's level so that readers are both fascinated and challenged and are therefore able to quickly and efficiently improve their Hebrew-language skills.

HebrewToday started its journey in 1984 as a family business publishing mainly educational publications for the Israeli school system. HebrewToday Publication House is based in Jerusalem and ships its easy Hebrew newspapers to over 50 countries. Our publications are recognized by the Israeli Ministry of Education and recommended by the Jewish Agency for Israel.

The heart and head of HebrewToday Publication House is Yigal Tzadka, Editor-in-Chief. Yigal was born in 1955 in Jerusalem to an Orthodox Jewish family. In 1979, Yigal graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem after having completed military service in the Israel Defense Forces. For the last 30 years, Yigal has written and edited publications which have been appreciated both in Israel and abroad.

In 2001 the HebrewToday family launched a new publication for Hebrew learners across the world: "Yanshuf Easy Hebrew Newspaper". This bi-weekly newspaper has been a huge success since its first printing. The combination of easy Hebrew articles with a dictionary for the difficult words, accompanied by an audio CD and exercises has made the newspaper particulary appealing for readers outside of Israel. With "Yanshuf", schools have found an interesting tool to engage students with the Hebrew language and life in Israel.

In 2006, on the request of many readers and schools, HebrewToday launched the sister publication of "Yanshuf", an even more basic newspaper: "Bereshit Easy Hebrew Newspaper for Beginners". Today, thousands of readers are enjoying both "Bereshit" and "Yanshuf" from Hong Kong to Hungary, Boston to Botswana and scores of places in between whilst practicing and improving their Hebrew-language skills. You can, too!
